PBGL001

The measuring of internal diameters, spaces between two surfaces and the width of grooves and threads are some of the broadest applications for Precision Ball Gauges. Our Custom Gauge Balls are an excellent way to check bore diameters as they have minimal contact friction and do not stick or bind. Due to the 360 line of contact, you can immediately detect if the hole in question is barrel shaped (large in the center), bell mouthed (small in the center), or tapered.

Advantages:

Precision balls make first-rate inspection tools, but loose balls are very hard to work with. This problem is solved by attaching a stem and handle to a ball for use as a plug gauge. They then have a rather unique advantage over conventional inspection methods and are excellent for use in confined areas even when the actual hole or groove being measured cannot be seen by the inspector. The innate spherical shape provides a ‘self-centering’ line of contact that can be inserted into a hole being measured at any angle, without any alignment problems.

Two ball plug gauges can be mounted on a standard AGD handle to make a GO & NO-GO Ball Gauge.
